Join our very own Mackenzie Reetz on her African adventure at the Baboon Rehabilitation Center!
Mackenzie Reetz, our veterinary assistant extraordinaire, recently traveled to Africa to help rehabilitate a group of orphaned Chacma baboons. Mackenzie did this as a volunteer; out of the kindness of her heart and mainly at her own expense. Here's her adventure at the Centre for Animal Rehabilitation and Education - C.A.R.E., located in Phalaborwa, South Africa...

Here's Mack at the Primate Rehabilitation Center. The Centre for Animal Rehabilitation and Education - C.A.R.E., located in Phalaborwa, South Africa, is a wildlife rehabilitation facility dedicated to the care, welfare, rehabilitation and protection of injured and orphaned indigenous wild animals.

And here's one of Mackenzie's new friends! Picture's a little blurry but he looks like a baboon to me!

The centre currently houses over 400 baboons and is the only facility in Southern Africa that accepts orphaned or abandoned baboons and offers them long term care.

C.A.R.E. has pioneered many firsts in primate care, and its rehabilitation programme has gained respect within scientific and animal behavioral communities. C.A.R.E also has an incredible track record in successfully rehabilitating hand-reared animals and releasing fully formed troops back into the wild.

| Mackenzie has a great interest in animal welfare and zoology. She is currently taking college courses to obtain her zoology degree. Plus she thinks baboons are pretty cool!
